About this tool

Premium tool — preview with sample data

The Pit Strategy calculator optimises the pit windows for a GPRO race: how many stops to make, on which laps, how much fuel to take at each stop and which tyre compound to run. It combines tyre wear, fuel consumption, pit lane time and race length to minimise the total race time.

How it works

  1. Load the race, your car and driver data and the weather forecast.
  2. Choose the tyre compound, the race risk and the boost laps.
  3. Read the recommended stop laps and the fuel per stint and enter them in the GPRO pit strategy screen.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from the Race Strategy calculator?
Race Strategy compares whole strategies with different numbers of stops. Pit Strategy focuses on the details of one strategy: the exact stop laps and the fuel to load at each stop.
Does it account for the fuel tank limit?
Yes. GPRO limits the fuel per stint, and the calculator flags any stint that would exceed the tank so you can split it.
